FAQ

From your website, looks like you have many weddings under your belt! Is this your full-time job? How many weddings do you typically take on per weekend?

Great question! I do not do wedding films full time. I work as a real estate photographer full time and weddings are something I took on solely as a passion project which has since turned into a side business of its own. I started my wedding career as a wedding photographer and transitioned into video a few years ago. I actually prefer having weddings as a passion side business as it allows me to be more particular about the couples I work with and not take on too much. I generally don’t do more than 6 or 7 a year and I never do more than one per weekend. I would be exhausted!

How much of our input do you ask for versus your having your own vision for our video? (I.e song choice)

So I generally just shoot and edit in my own “style” which is hopefully what attracted you to my films in the first place! However, I do send out a short questionnaire sometime after booking that just asks some simple questions about your favorite music, books, themes, etc. I am limited as to what music I can use in terms of licensing but I find that most of my couples are very happy with the “cinematic” themes I tend to edit to.

I love that you utilize a drone for the scenic shots. How do you capture those scenes? Is it while getting ready or cocktail hour or the ceremony?

As far as the drone goes, it does depend on the weather but I am usually able to capture very good footage even if its a bit windy/cloudy etc. Typically I fly the drone closer to sunset as the lighting is better then. I try to sneak out sometime during dinner or during cocktail hour after capturing a few videos of the guests.

How do you ensure that you get quality audio for the speeches and vows? What kind of microphone do you use?

I am super particular about audio. I use an assortment of 4-5 different audio sources to capture audio of the most important parts to include redundancy as well. In addition to the on camera microphones, I use an audio recorder to capture sound directly from the DJ as well as putting a small lapel microphone on both the groom and the officiant. I would rather end up with 4 of the same recordings than have none!

How long does it take for you to get back with the final product? Same with the teaser film?

My typical turn around time is 4-6 weeks for the final film with the teaser taking anywhere from 1-2 weeks after the wedding to deliver. Depending on my current work load but as I said I never take on more than I can handle for a season!

Does your business have a license in case our venue requires it?

Generally videographers don’t have to carry a license like a caterer or DJ would need however I am insured for liability and do have a commercial license to operate the drone.
